mobilization
[The action of organizing and encouraging a group of people to take collective action in pursuit of a particular objective.]
In Acts 1:8 we read Jesus’ words, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
As Jesus ascended to heaven, he was describing a global movement that would make his redemptive work known to the ends of the earth.
Mobilization is not a biblical word, but it is a biblical concept, that describes the activity of those who call God’s people to obedience and meaningful participation in God’s mission. By reminding God’s people of their purpose, Mobilizers are following in the footsteps of the prophets of Scripture who called God’s people to repentance and obedience. In many respects Mobilizers are Prophets, standing alongside Apostles, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers, to equip God’s people for works of service.
Simply Mobilizing provides opportunities for Mobilizers to become meaningfully connected with the SM movement in Canada and to contribute to its vision of seeing all God’s people mobilized and local churches becoming missional.
