An Invitation to Pray: Week 5

An Invitation to Pray

In this fifth week of our prayer focus, we delve into the significance of praying for leaders and pastors to embody Jesus' vision of unity, fostering missional churches. Join us in praying for the Holy Spirit to empower mobilizers in their vital ministry.

WEEK FIVE: Unity of Mind and Purpose Born Out of Humility

 April 28th - May 5th

 Scripture focus: Philippians 2:1-16

  • Pray for unity born of humility for every leader, pastor and mobilizer in the Body of Christ, that we would be the answer to Jesus’ prayer in John 17:20-23, and Jesus be recognized as God’s Messiah.
  • Pray for denominational leaders and pastors who are the gatekeepers in the church. Pray that they would welcome the ministry of Simply Mobilizing to help them develop missional churches.

  • Many pastors don’t realize their primary role as mobilizers, ‘equipping the saints for works of service’ (Ephesians 4:12). Pray that they would develop a strong team in their church to work with them in this, and open their hearts and hands for lay ministry – every person engaged in some way in the mission of God.

Praying through Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday (March 31st - May 19th)

While we are scattered across Canada, we want to pray TOGETHER. There are several ways we hope to facilitate that:

  1. All Together Online: Mark your calendars and join us.
    • Tuesday, April 2nd - 5 pm PT / 8 pm ET: Register for this event on Course Manager and the link will be sent to you.
    • Wednesday, May 15th - 5 pm PT / 8 pm ET Register for this event on Course Manager and the link will be sent to you.

  2. Together in Regional or Language Group Gatherings: In person or online.
    • Check with your Coordinator to find out more.

  3. Together Each Day: Set your alarm and pray together:
    • 10:02 – Luke 10:2 invites us to pray that the Lord of the Harvest will thrust out workers.
    • 15:02 – John 15:2 reminds us that the Father is a master gardener who prunes what is unfruitful so that we will be more fruitful.

  4. Together Each Week: Using our prayer themes (posted weekly).

Praying for the Atlantic Provinces

I’m here today shamelessly enlisting you to pray for the Atlantic Provinces. Honestly, if you’re looking for a place to find solitude, rest, community, and to connect with God in nature, just come to Atlantic Canada. This isn’t a tourism ad, though it’s hard to speak about my home region without sounding like one. It is just that beautiful – rugged, remote, picturesque, quirky, fun, and cozy. Everything that you’ve heard about the natural and cultural beauty here is true. So come here to stay, play, and pray, but also pray for us.

In this fourth paradigm, Ken Chua examines the difference between the works in the church and the works of the Church—in other words, what happens on Sunday during our gathered community time and what happens the rest of the week when we are scattered in our various communities.
