Praying for the Quebec Region

Praying for the Quebec Region

Quebec has seen significant changes in religious affiliation over the past decades. While Christianity remains the largest religion, with 64.8% of the population identifying as Christian, the province has also seen a rise in those with no religious affiliation, now comprising 27.3% of the population (The Christian Century) (America Demografia). The Evangelical Christian community, although smaller in number, continues to play a vital role in the religious landscape of Quebec. Our guest contributor, Michael H. Gagnon, shares some of the upcoming strategies in motion to encourage re-engagement with God's missional heart for the Quebec region. Let's pray together for power and passion to fuel these movements!

Re-igniting Mission Mobilization in Post-Pandemic Quebec - by Michael H. Gagnon

As has been the case, elsewhere, we have been experiencing, in Quebec, challenges in offering courses (both in French and English), as the post-pandemic church programs have ramped up. However, we are seeking, as a regional team, to find ways of keeping the flame of mission mobilization burning.

One key focus is to see all our registered Kairos facilitators encouraged to re-engage. So, we will be attempting to hold in-person gatherings in three different regions:

Montreal & Montérégie: July 21st
Quebec City: July 23rd
-  Rimouski: August (date yet to be determined)
Chinese-speaking: Montreal (date yet to be determined)

Also, we are seriously looking to set up several courses/seminars for the Fall and Winter to come:

An English language Kairos course for the Fall 2024 on the West Island of Montreal: Establishing appropriate dates/building of facilitation team.
A French language Kairos course (hybrid) for the Fall 2024: Establishing appropriate dates/building of facilitation team/securing locations for the regional in-person weekends (sessions 7, 8, & 9)
A Kairos course for the Haitian churches of Montreal (Fall/Winter)
An Interface seminar for Haitian pastors in the Montreal area (Fall/Winter)

Of course, the key to any advance is concerted prayer. Please join us in asking our Heavenly Father, the Lord of the Harvest, to guide and anoint in this work to mobilize His church in Quebec.

Praying for the Atlantic Provinces

I’m here today shamelessly enlisting you to pray for the Atlantic Provinces. Honestly, if you’re looking for a place to find solitude, rest, community, and to connect with God in nature, just come to Atlantic Canada. This isn’t a tourism ad, though it’s hard to speak about my home region without sounding like one. It is just that beautiful – rugged, remote, picturesque, quirky, fun, and cozy. Everything that you’ve heard about the natural and cultural beauty here is true. So come here to stay, play, and pray, but also pray for us.

Paradigm 4 – Works in the Church and Works of the Church

In this fourth paradigm, Ken Chua examines the difference between the works in the church and the works of the Church—in other words, what happens on Sunday during our gathered community time and what happens the rest of the week when we are scattered in our various communities.
